The most difficult part of fitness is staying motivated. It can be done! There are many ways to stay motivated, and we’ve compiled a list of some of the best ways to stay on your fitness game.
Stay hydrated:
It’s important to drink water when you’re working out so that you don’t become dehydrated or overheat.
Find something enjoyable:
Being active doesn’t have to be painful; find an activity that makes it fun for you like swimming with friends, playing tennis, going shopping together as a family, hiking in the woods…the possibilities are endless! You may even want to look into team sports where exercise becomes more about competition than just physical activity alone.
Schedule it:
Just like you schedule time to do your homework, plan out exercise time. If you have a set appointment, then you are less likely to miss it than if you were to throw in a quick workout when you could. Make sure this scheduled “me” time is something that happens at the same time every day, so that it becomes a routine and you look forward to it.
Eat well:
What you eat is extremely important when staying active, especially if you’re trying to lose weight or build muscle. You want to fuel your body with the correct amount of healthy foods to keep yourself going all day long! It’s not a race against the clock, so don’t worry if it takes longer to lose weight than you expected.
Don’t over do it:
Don’t try to run that 10k without training for it first! Your body needs time to get acclimated to an increased work load and without working it up to with smaller loads, you could end up injured. As with most things in life, slow and steady wins the race!
Reward yourself:
Once you’ve reached your weight loss or fitness goals, treat yourself to something nice. Go shopping for new workout gear or have a spa day with your best friend. Whatever you do, reward yourself for successfully completing your goals and don’t forget to remind yourself of the reason why you started in the first place.
Stay positive:
Staying on track is difficult at times, but it doesn’t have to be a negative experience. If you fall off track or eat something that isn’t good for your diet, try not to give up entirely! Look at what triggered the event and make sure that it doesn’t happen again. It takes time and practice, but eventually staying fit will become second nature! As long as you continue to work harder than before it will all be worth it in the end. You can do this! Remember, life is about living so workout hard and live happy!
If you want to stay on track with your fitness goals, it can be done! There are many ways to stay motivated and our list of tips should help. Find something enjoyable like swimming or tennis that is fun for you, schedule time every day for exercise at the same time as a routine, eat well so that your body has enough fuel and don’t overdo it without working up to an increased work load first. Reward yourself once you’ve reached weight loss or fitness goals by treating yourself with new workout gear or going shopping together as a family. Stay positive when things get tough and remember life is about living (and also staying fit!).

I love this article! The two tips that have worked best for me are to schedule it, and eat well/stay on track.
I have all my workouts in my Outlook calendar as “out of office” blocks to make sure I can have time for ME. Great tips!
Thank you for sharing, Victoria! I love the “out of office” blocks idea to help as even a visual reminder! I’m glad you enjoyed the article. 🙂
